Hi, I’m Desiree Bernardo! I’m a special education teacher at Danville Middle School, where I work with students in the Behavior Support Room. I’ve spent more than 10 years supporting children with autism, emotional disabilities, and other diverse learning needs, and I’m passionate about helping every student grow both academically and socially.
I believe in creating a classroom that feels safe, supportive, and welcoming for all learners. My teaching blends structure with compassion, using strategies like trauma-informed practices, sensory-friendly supports, and positive behavior interventions. I’m also finishing my Master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis at Ball State University as I work toward becoming a BCBA.
Above all, I love celebrating students’ successes big or small and helping them build confidence in themselves.
